At 11:27 PM September 6, a five stage Minotaur rocket carrying the Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer was launched from NASA's facility on Wallops Island in Virginia.
I remembered that it was scheduled to launch tonight...at 11.31 PM.
I am rather peeved about this. This is the second time I've missed a Wallops launch by a matter of minutes.
Anyway, from what the onlookers have been reporting, it was a spectacular sight, visible as far away as Massachusetts. It is currently on its way to orbit the Moon.
You can read more about it at the official web site, but I haven't been able to find a video of the launch. I tuned in just in time to watch the local fire department extinguishing a brushfire on the launch pad.
