Can People Tell the Difference Between Reality and Fiction? Really?

Republibot 3.0's picture

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED ON 11/30/09

One of the neat things about the new "V" series is how - as Republibot 1.0 pointed out in his initial reivew - the Visitors are no longer Nazis (As they were in the original series), they're the Illuminati: They infiltrate, they sew discord, they usurp power. This is a pretty clever way of tying the show's own version of reality in with our 'zeitgeist' - the spirit of our time. Well, the spirit of crazy people in our time, anyway.

EPISODE REVIEW: V: "Uneasy Lies the Head" (Season 2, Episode 8)

Beijing--a male peace ambassador begins to dissolve and a woman screams.

On Anna's ship a live-aboard is screaming in the needle machine as DNA is extracted (why do they treat DNA like it's a finite resource? I mean, have the V's really attained that level of technology without figuring out how to sequence and replicate DNA?) Anna thinks the 5th column leadership has been destroyed.

CATCHING UP WITH V: "Concordia," "Siege," and "Birth Pangs" (Episodes 5-7)

Hey, everyone!

We've obviously had a rocky road covering "V" thus far this year, for which I profusely apologize. Fortunately, Kristine N. has graciously stepped forward to review the series from here on out.

Coverage starts today with a recap of the three episodes we missed here on the site.

I hope everyone will join me in thanking Kristine for all her work in doing this!

Sincerely,
Republibot 3.0

Ok, We're Just Not Doing So Good With The Reviews It Seems...

Republibot 3.0's picture

I totally spaced on Sym-Bionic Titan last night, and missed the episode. I'll pick it up on Saturday, and I do apologize for the delay. In a larger sense, however, this points out a problem we've been having here at the 'Bot this season: We're simply not being very reliable with our episode reviews.

This is as much my fault as it is anyones. Arguably, it's probably more my fault since I'm the head writer and public face of the website.

Episode Review: V – Laid Bare (Season 2, Episode 3)

Republibot 1.0's picture

I am only a day slow on this. I am getting better. I think I got this recap thing figured out to where I can write it in about 2 hours including viewing time. It helps that the show is terrible, so all I really have to do is note what happens without actually caring and getting caught up in the story. This week’s episode only moves the story incrementally forward even though it feels like a ton of stuff happened.

This week’s episode is called “Laid Bare”, and according to the cable show guide: “Lisa’s body undergoes changes; Anna dispatches Ryan to find Agent Malik after she goes missing.”

Episode Review: V – Serpent's Tooth (Season 2, Episode 3)

Republibot 1.0's picture

Ok, here we go. Back for a shortened (thankfully) season of reviews of this terrible, terrible show. Sorry I missed last week, I will try to loop back and review the season premiere as soon as I can get my hands on it. My only prayer this year is that it doesn’t get canceled mid-season and then they dump all of the remaining episodes into one marathon back to back showing all at once, like Syfy did with Caprica. I honestly don’t think I would be able to survive that.

"V" Episode Review Coming Soon

Republibot 1.0's picture

Hi - R3 has asked me to shoulder the very heavy responsibility of reviewing the second season of "V" right here on Republibot. I am running a little behind schedule though because my Tuesday evenings are generally a mess. I have the show DVRed, I was hoping to find it streaming online, but ABC doesn't seem to understand clearly that concept.

So, check back this evening and I will have it up. If anyone knows if there is any legal place online the Season Opener is streaming, I would appreciate being pointed there. I knew the season was kicking off again soon, but didn't see any promos for it in my sheltered little world.

In the meantime feel free to join me on Facebook as I attempt to write a new joke about the Large Hadron Collider every day right here: Jokes About The Large Hadron Collider (without Sexual Overtones)

BREAKING NEWS: Chuck is back, V is back, FlashForward is as good as dead.

Republibot 3.0's picture

The Hollywood Reporter (No, I've never heard of it before either. Must be a local Florida paper or something) is reporting that FlashForward, the ambitious, experimental, but ultimately not-very-good SF series on ABC is dead, dead, deadily-dead.

Did I say 'dead?' That's actually a bit premature. The story doesn't actually *Say* FF is dead, but it's "Unlikely to return," this after its initial episode order was already whittled down by several hours several months back.

Episode Review: V – Hearts And Minds (Season 1, Episode 10)

Republibot 1.0's picture

I think we are quick coming up on the end of the season and based on what I am picking up on the other Geek sites longevity isn’t looking very likely for this show which kinda conflicts me. On the one hand the show sucks and I hate reviewing it. On the second hand, the premise is golden and if only they had worked up a real vision for what they wanted to accomplish… Meh. No crying over spilt milk as the saying goes. Comcast says, “A deadly V tracker team is dispatched to find Erica, Ryan, Father Jack and Hobbes; Anna issues an invitation to Tyler for the Live Aboard Program; Chad asks Father Jack about the Fifth Column.”

Follow along as I outline what went down in this week’s exciting episode, right after the jump.

Episode Review: V – Heretic's Fork (Season 1, Episode 9)

Republibot 1.0's picture

Hey, how about this? I am only a week late with this recap. And I actually feel kinda bad for being slow on this one, because it seems like the producer’s are finally starting to get a sense of balance to what they have going on. Anyway, let’s deal with that in a bit, first let’s share what the all seeing Comcast has to say for this week’s episode: “Chad deals with his aneurysm on the mother ship; Ryan confesses to Val that he is a visitor; Erica, Father Jack and Hobbes try to protect the Fifth Column.”

And now more, after the jump…
