Sym-Bionic Titan

EPISODE REVIEW: Sym-Bionic Titan: “The Ballad of Scary Mary” (Episode 12)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Welcome to the…uhm…what, exactly? Is this the second season premier of Sym-Bionic Titan? Or an extremely distended second half of the season? Or is the show dead, and they’re just burning off the episodes? Theoretically, CN ordered 20 episodes, so it’s probably not dead *yet* but one wonders what’s going on.

Whatever role this episode is supposed to fill, the show returns after a three-month absence with no promotion or fanfare; ignominiously bumped from the Friday night schedule by “Young Justice.” It got dumped here amidst a lack of promotion and fanfare.

EPISODE REVIEW: Sym-Bionic Titan: “The Fortress of Deception” (Episode 11)

What are we, England? We can’t do a full-length season anymore? It’s bad enough that cartoon seasons are so ridiculously short to begin with, but we only get eleven episodes of this show? Sheesh.

REPUBLIBOT AWARD: Best Night of Programming

sysadmin 2.0's picture

After much consideration (which consisted of a conference call between two out of three Republibots), we decided to award our coveted (and recently invented) Best Individual Night of Programming Award to Cartoon Network for the incredible quality of the individual episodes of original programming that they showed on November 19th, 2010.

Seriously, last night's shows were really, really good.  If you missed them,  you should make a real effort to watch them.

To Cartoon Network Programming Execs- please contact us at two@republibot.com to get your congratulatory interview!

EPISODE REVIEW: Sym-Bionic Titan: “Lessons In Love” (Episode 10)

Republibot 3.0's picture

You know, curiously, whenever I’ve hear “Space Age Love Song” by A Flock of Seagulls, I’ve always thought of a happy cheerleader in love with a machine dancing down the street at night while a giant alien and a huge mighty fighty robot duke it out in the background. If you’re at all like me - and face it, you really are, far moreso than you’re willing to admit - then you’ve had that same odd association. And now, thanks to the miracle that is Sym-Bionic Titan, my friends, all our dreams can be realized.

Seriously: Best use of Space Age Love Song, ever.

EPISODE REVIEW: Sym-Bionic Titan: “Tashy 497” (Episode 9)

The evil general dude goes to the planet Mutrad to complain about how little bang he’s getting for his alien monster buck. The leader of the monster ship gives him the most horrifying creature on the planet, a cute little blue deal that looks a lot like Oswald the Octopus.

EPISODE REVIEW: Sym-Bionic Titan: “Shadows of Youth” (Episode 8)

Republibot 3.0's picture

I have this theory that the number of reads on a particular review tends to show the relative popularity of the show in the real world. Well, duh, right? No: it doesn’t work for shows like “Lost” or whatever, where there’s eleventy-jillion sites covering ‘em, so the numbers on those tend to be rather soft. There are a number of shows we cover, however, that I’ve *never* seen anyone else review on another website. Pretty much the whole CN Friday night lineup falls into that category. Ben 10’s last episode got more than three times as many reads as did last week’s episode of this show.

EPISODE REVIEW: Sym-Bionic Titan: “Showdown at Sherman High” (Episode 7)

Republibot 3.0's picture

The Titan is fighting a big blob, and Octus destroys it with a high frequency radio wave. As they leave the scene, a droplet of goo gets on the princess’ clothes, and gets taken to school. It yells really loudly and the rest of the goo converges on the school to kill Team Lance. Running about and higgledy-piggeldy ensue.

EPISODE REVIEW: Sym-Bionic Titan: “Shaman of Fear” (Season 1, Episode 6)

Republibot 3.0's picture

The princess and Corporal Lance* are having very bad dreams, and partial memories that might be dreams, or maybe things they’ve somehow forgotten. They can’t be sure, and Octus seems to have a whole lot of files he can’t access all of a sudden. Lance keeps reliving the death of his father and himself being attacked by demonic red beasties. The princess has far more nonstandard nightmares that are far more surrealistic and/or Bergmanesque in places, and probably shouldn’t be watched by kids. These ultimately turn out to be the work of an alien that can affect their minds.

EPISODE REVIEW: Sym-Bionic Titan: “The Roar of the White Dragon” (Episode 5)

This is the kind of episode that comes of watching Tokyo Drift into the wee hours of the morning when you’re *supposed* to be writing a script…

EPISODE REVIEW: Sym-Bionic Titan: “Phantom Ninja” (Season 1, Episode 4)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Thinks pretty much suck on whatever planet it is that Lance and company come from. (I can never remember the name, but it’s pretty goofy) The resistance is wearing down, the king is being tortured by an incredibly creepy alien that climbs *inside* him to get info. Bad times for all. General whatshisname (I always forget that, too) sends the creepy bug to earth to kill - in no uncertain terms - the princess and her protectors.
