Stargate

ORIGINAL SONG: "Arrogant Love" by Kevin Long (NSFW)

Yup, another of my crappy original songs to fill up space here over the weekend. It's 3:30 seconds long, so, really, what have you got to lose? And it's catchy. And unlike most of my previous songs on here, this one has a throw-away gag about a science fiction show, if you can spot it.

Doctor Daniel Jackson Explains It All To You....

The kid and I have worked our way up to Stargate: Universe, which is alas no longer streaming so we're having to netflix it via disks. As slow as this is, it has some cool extras on it, such as the Kino diaries (Web-only content, mostly the diaries of some of the characters, though some are clearly deleted scenes), and on disk 2: "The Daniel Jackson Introductory Collection."

Stargate: SG1 Season 1 Review

Republibot 3.0's picture

What with the “Stargate” franchise being dead for the foreseeable future, and since my older kids kinda’ like it, It thought now was as good a time as any to review the series. I’d always wanted to do it in chronological order, but I never have. Also, there are a metric ton of SG1 episodes I’ve never seen, and a lot of SGA eps as well. I really didn’t start watching until it was on Syfy (Then called “Skiffy”), and while they endlessly repeated the earlier eps, I never made an effort to catch up.

STARGATE UNIVERSE: Was Rush Lying?

Republibot 3.0's picture

So it's been a year or so now since Stargate: Universe, and by extension, the entire Stargate franchise, died. Time for us to become like Trekies in 1971 and start yammering on about minutia. America doesn't have a manned space program anymore, and we're in the middle of the second worst depression of all time, it's not like we've got anything else to do.

Here, I'll get us started:

Did Conservatives Kill Stargate: Universe?

Republibot 3.0's picture

Brad Wright has been frequently been associated with the comment that "Conservatives killed Stargate." In fact, I think this is a misquote. I can't find anywhere that he specifically said this, but I have found plenty of comments with resentment that people didn't come over to the new show, and some of 'em are of the sort that could be interpreted to mean that, whether he did or not.

SO whether he meant it or not (I personally don't think he did) it's become a matter of fannon that we pulled the plug on MY favorite franchise.

So did we? Maybe.

Stargate: Ruminations.

Now that SGU is on hiatus for a bit, I thought I'd bring up some things I've been wondering about since it came on. I really began to question this stuff around episode 7 or so, and while it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the show, some questions were just kind of nagging at me. I didn't really want to broach the subject while they were actually running new episodes, however, because I didn't want to "Insult the living by speaking of the dead" as they say. Now that we've got some time to catch our breath, however:

1) What the hell is SG1 doing these days?
