DVD BOX SET REVIEW: Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-ray

Wil Avitt's picture

Star Wars has finally been released on blu-ray, but before you buy it (if you haven't already), there are a few things you might like to know. First of all, I highly recommend the set. Let's just get that out of the way right now. The film's look magnificent, restored to such crystal clarity that one would be hard pressed to tell their age. Even the original film looks like it was made within the last decade, and not almost 35 years ago. If you're a fan of the saga, there's nothing like watching it in HD. That said, let's examine the set a bit more closely.

FAN FILM FRIDAY: "Star Wars Vs. Battlestar Galactica"

I generally don't post these "Spacebattles.com" kinds of things. They're just too easy, there's no end of them, and after a point they begin to drag you down, you know? It's not that they suck, its just that there's a crushing sameness to them. It's always well known franchises duking it out, stuff blows up purty, neither side wins, what's the point?

FAN FILM FRIDAY: INTERVIEW: Julian Bane discusses "Doctor Who - Alternate Empire"

REPUBLIBOT: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, we're here with Julian Bane, who plays The Doctor in the "Doctor Who: Alternate Empire" Fanfilm series. Julian, thank you for being with us today!

JULIAN BANE: My pleasure.

REPUBLIBOT: For those who haven't seen it yet, "Alternate Empire" is a kind of conceptual mashup between Doctor Who's "Whoniverse" and the Star Wars universe as well. Where did the inspiration for this come from?

And now we come to part two of the Doctor Who fan film we started last week. Next week we'll wrap up our coverage.

Last week I mentioned Caroline Morahan has great hair. In fact, she's drop-dead gorgeous, and a better than average amateur actress.

Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith – Movie Review (**1/2)

Republibot 1.0's picture

Before I begin my review, in the interest of full disclosure, I feel it important to say that even though I am of that generation that grew up with the original Star Wars movies, they were never formational films for me. Actually, Seven Blows of the Dragon was a much more important film in my youth than all three original Star Wars films put together. Granted, I have gone to every movie opening day (with the exception of Episode IV – A New Hope), but that has been more to maintain whatever geek cred I may or may not have had at the time of the various releases than any fanatical need to be the first in line.
