TV REVIEW: Dollhouse: "Stage Fright" (Episode 3)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Echo is programmed to be an ass-kicking backup singer for a Riana-like singer that someone is trying to kill. Sierra, the blonde Japanese girl, is assigned as her backup. They infiltrate the singer's agency separately and with no real difficulties, until it becomes apparent that Rianna *Wants* to die, and is encouraging her stalker/executioner. Said whackjob kidnaps Sierra, and so Echo endangers the singer to rescue the other active, and save the day. This they then do.

Meanwhile, in the Helo plot, Paul the FBI guy gets set up by his Russian Mob informant, and is shot and hospitalized.

TV REVIEW: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: "Some Must Watch, While Some Must Sleep" (Season 2, Episode 16)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Welcome to the the Fox Friday Night Death Slot where they dump all their soon-to-be-cancelled shows. Tonights feature: Terminator 2.5 (Cuz, y'see, it takes place in between the 2nd and 3rd movies, on an awkward tangent timeline)

TV Reviews: Dollhouse: "The Target" (Episode 2)

Republibot 3.0's picture

This episode is simultaneously much better, and much more disappointing than last week's debut.

We start off with a flashback scene to three months ago when one of the Actives goes whacky and kills a skillion other Actives and guards in the Dollhouse. He leave Echo alive, however.

TV REVIEW: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: "Desert Cantos" (Season 2, Episode 15)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Welcome to part one of the Friday Night SF Triple Feature!

Last week, as you'll recall, the lead singer for Garbage blew up a mysterious factory out in the desert while a whole bunch of other stuff went on involving Sarah, John, John's girlfriend Riley, and The Terminator Previously Known As Cromarti (And currently known as "John Henry.") Much of that stuff I didn't understand as I hadn't watched the show for 10 episodes or so, but fortunately most of it was completely irrelevant to this week's episode.

MOVIE REVIEWS: "Speed Racer" (2008)

Republibot 3.0's picture

To kill time while we're waiting for the big TV SF Triple Feature tonight, I thought I'd throw up a movie review, since we haven't done really any of those so far, I thought "Hey, why not start off with a movie from a year ago that no one went to see, no one had any interest in, and which was an utter bomb? Yeah, that's the way to start out!" So here we go with:

Speed Racer

EPISODE REVIEWS: Lost : "Flight 316" (Season 5, Episode 6)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Haven't we been here before?

We start out with what seems like a flashback to Jack awakening in the bamboo forrest in the first episode, but which quickly proves to be a flash forward involving less impaling to the time when they get *back* to the island.

EPISODE REVIEWS: Macross Zero: “Blue and Desperate Battle”(Episode 3, 2003)

Republibot 3.0's picture

We pick up right where we left off, with Sara singing naked in the sacred pond, and stuff floating through the air. Sara herself seems surprised by this, then she realizes Shin is watching her, and covers herself more in annoyance than embarrassment. The rocks and things fall. She cautions him that the bonds between ground and rock are failing, as are the bonds between people, and soon the bonds that hold the world together will fail.

EPISODE REVIEWS: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: “The Good Wound” (Season 2, Episode 14)

Bless me father, for I have sinned: It’s been Five Months (And 11 episodes) since I last watched The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I apologize. To be honest, I don’t know why I don’t watch the show. I really like it. I really do. It’s clever, well acted, well paced, it has a nice tension to it, I generally dig the soundtrack, there’s some great characters and a wonderful twisty oily kind of plot that I frequently can’t predict. I love it.

TV REVIEWS (Sort of): Battlestar Galactica: “The Face of the Enemy” (Episode 11-A)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Part of the publicity ramp-up for the final 10 episodes of Galactica was a web series called “The Face of the Enemy.” It was a 36-minute bottle story about Gaeta, casting some more light on his fall from grace which culminated last week. Curiously, though it was set after Episode 11 (“Sometimes a Great Notion”), it aired before it. The episode was divided in to ten chapters more or less randomly, some of the chapters were as barely over two minutes, some were pushing six.

TV REVIEWS: Macross Zero: “The Stars Of The Surface” (Episode 2, 2003)

Republibot 3.0's picture

We begin with a clever recap of the previous episode, a montage with a voice over of the elder from the island village telling the story of the Water Humans meeting the Bird Humans for the first time, and the creation of Rooy Kanu, the first “modern” human. The Montage/Recap flows seamlessly in to the episode itself, and we see that the villagers are hiding in a cave listening fearfully to the story while Sara prays to the gods to protect them, Roy continues to fight the Anti-UN forces in the air over the island, reeking much havoc, and Shin runs to the lake to save Mao.
