Unreal Science: Lurching From Crisis To Crisis

Mama Fisi's picture

I'm pushing fifty, and for most of my life, the scientific/activist community has been sounding the gong of doom about what terrible ecological disaster is going to end life as we know it if we don't change our ways.  It's the Book of Revelations, only with peer-reviewed footnotes, and they always speak with such emphatic desperation that they get large portions of the public to believe that the end is nigh.

I was watching a documentary on the Sahara region of Africa the other day, and there was one sentence that caught my attention--that due to changes in the Earth's orbit, the rains were driven to the south, creating the Sahara Desert within a matter of decades.

Rocket Science Is Hard

Republibot 4.0's picture

On Tuesday, April 14, Space-X successfully launched a Dragon resupply capsule to the International Space Station.  However, their second attempt to land the booster on an autonomous drone ship also failed when the rocket toppled over shortly after touching down.

Well, at least the astronauts will have espresso and ice cream, now.
