How to Play Guitar in One Easy Lesson.

Republibot 3.0's picture

If you live in North America, and you're a vertebrate, then you've dreamed of playing guitar at one time or another. You've probably also tried, but been quickly frustrated by your own lack of coordination, or enraged by the condescending attitudes of guitarists who *clearly* don't want you to join their club, and therefore teach things in the most arcane fashion available. And don't even get me started on writing/reading music. Clearly the monks who thought that up had some serious anger issues.

There's really only three ways to get around this:

The Legend Of Korra

"Avatar: The Last Airbender" is my kids' all-time favorite cartoon, and it's actually one of mine as well. A solidly-defined 'novel for television' (To use the Straczynskian argot) with a definite beginning, middle, and end, the show managed to engage kids and adults alike. The animation was beautiful, as well.

The Republibots have called in sick, so... tonight: Smallville!

Well, Republibots 1.0, 3.0 and 36-24-36 are all down with the crud today, so that means I get to talk about what I want to talk about.... and I've chosen Smallville!

I like superheroes, even though technically not Science Fiction (I don't care if they put scientific trappings around a superhero, it's still fantasy...), they do have redeeming qualities. The stories, at their best, reflect nobility, responsibility and virtue. At their worst, they are.... well, dreadful, honestly.

Smallville is frequently both.
