OPINION: Why Marvel Knocked Avengers Out of the Park and Why Warner Bros. Will Ruin Justice League

Wil Avitt's picture

The Avengers is currently the third highest grossing film of all time behind Gone With the Wind at #1 and Avatar at #2. It should also be noted that Avatar's and Gone's numbers include DVD and television revenue (and in Gone's case that includes more than 70 years of revenue), so a good case can be made for Avengers being the most successful film of all time. Of course, it didn't take too much longer after Avengers hit the ONE BILLION dollar mark that Warner Bros. started talking about resurrecting the Justice League movie that was aborted back in 2007 or 2008. But why was Avengers so successful and can Warners possibly replicate this success?

MOVIE REVIEW: X-Men: First Class

Wil Avitt's picture

Mutation. It is the key to our evolution. It has enabled us to evolve from a single celled organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, and normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward…

X-Men: First Class is the fifth installment of the X-Men film franchise, which started (and kicked off the current superhero trend in motion pictures to boot) with Bryan Singer’s X-Men way back in 2000. X-Men is unique among other superhero film franchises in that it has made it to five films without dying out or having to be rebooted. No other superhero film franchise has been able to accomplish this. Because of this, X-Men is worthy of some congratulations.

FAN FILM FRIDAY: "Secret Wars Re-Enactment Society"

Republibot 3.0's picture

I hear you out there, I hear your pain, I hear your frustration, I hear you decrying fan filmdom in general because it's nothing but Star Wars and Star Trek and (Apparently) Space:1999. "Can't there be something else," you scream at the night sky? Well, yeah, quite a bit of stuff. In addition to way the heck too much stuff with "Star" in the title, there's also way too much (But still slightly less) stuff involving Marvel Comics.
