EPISODE REVIEW: Lost: “The Substitute” (Season 6, Episode 3)

Not that last week’s episode was a bad one or anything, but this one is far better. Our peek into the new alternate world continues to grow more intriguing, even as our understanding of the old world expands. Finally.

Episode Review: LOST: "The Substitute" (Season 6, Episode 4)

Good Evening.  Tonight, we got smacked in the face with more half-answers.  Or half smacked with whole answers.  Or something.   As usual, Lost may have revealed that a couple of answers may have been in plain sight for quite some time now, and the reason for the whole shebang is revealed.  Mind you, this is Lost, and thus the answers only reveal more questions.

Spoilers and dime-store philosophy and story theory after the jump!

Episode Review: LOST:"What Kate Does" (Season 6, Episode 3)

sysadmin 2.0's picture

Lost settles into its final season with a Kate and Claire centric episode.  This review will be a bit less spoiler-y than my reviews have been in the past.  Please bear with us a bit while we settle back into a routine- I will try to take a bird's eye view of the issues raised in a particular episode and how they fit thematically, while R3 will do whatever it is he does.

So, after the jump... I spend precious little time with 'What Kate Does' and focus on what it might mean...

Lost and C. S. Lewis: Connections on the Fringe

sysadmin 2.0's picture

After reading the following essay, I can imagine Charlie sitting up in bed and yelling "Eureka!", and then realizing that he was yelling the title to the wrong TV show, yelling "Lost and Fringe!  And Jack Lewis!"

We have all the elements to a great story here- a long forgotten text, a mysterious TV show and a college professor trying to find THE TRUTH.  Too bad we have no budget to hire Tom Hanks.

In this case, though, we do have Dr. Starr's latest Lost essay.  Enjoy!

EPISODE REVIEW: Lost: “LAX” (Season 6, Episodes 1 and 2)

Republibot 3.0's picture

I was feeling terrible last night, just full-on sick terrible. One of those flu-days where you just want to go to bed at 7, and lapse into a coma for a couple days until you’re feeling better. I really didn’t feel like staying up for two hours of Lost, and I didn’t feel like I’d have been able to do it even if I wanted to. I try to put the needs of you, the readers, before my own, however, and I figured I’d give it a shot.

DRIVE-BY GEEKERY: 30 Rock and BSG....and Lost

Republibot 3.0's picture

Thursday Night's episode of 30 Rock continues the show's rather odd decline in quality with an indifferent episode that doesn't even bother to resolve some of its plot threads (Closure on Tracy's "Rule of Threes" subplot, please?), but on the bright side it *did* feature Cerie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katrina_Bowden in a bikini as an "Italian Senator," and of course it had two really solid moments of drive-by geekery, quickly followed by one really lame one. Jump through for the details.
