Episode Review: LOST: "What They Died For" (Season 6, Episode 16)

Tonight, it all starts to draw to a close. All the players are in place, and we know just about all we're going to know about some things. We'll probably never know who built the statue and why it only has four toes. How and why the Dharma Initiative found the island... again, probably not something that they'll tell us.

But tonight, we learn some important things, most importantly 'What They Died For'.

SPECULATION: I think I get the whole "Flash Sideways" thing on Lost

Sorry to bug all you guys with a haiku-length post, but it just suddenly occured to me what's up with this whole "Flash Sideways" thing they've been doing this season: The purpose of that timeline is to show us what their fates would be if they hadn't crashed, and hence weren't there to save the world.

Tonight, I want to know if you trust me. Do you trust me to tell the truth about Lost tonight? If I told you that there were very little answers in tonight's action packed thriller of an episode, would you continue on beyond the jump?

I wish you would believe me....

TV Guide says about tonight's diversion: "Hurley agonizes over what the group should do next, and Locke is curious about the new arrival to his camp. Meanwhile, in flash sideways, Desmond begins his search for the Oceanic 815 passengers."

Well, that sounds interesting. Maybe we'll see more ghosts.

(duh. It's a Hurley episode.)

(redundant) EPISODE REVIEW: Lost: “Happily Ever After” (Season 6, Episode 11)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Since this season began, a subject of great debate amongst fanatics and sane people alike has been whether or not the “It never happened” timeline has any relationship to what’s going on in the ‘real’ timeline this year. There have been hints that it is - a brief flash of recognition between strangers, a flash of jamis vu*, the recurring theme of the ‘mirror’ - but nothing so overt that it can’t be reasoned away in some other fashion.

Episode Review: Lost: "Happily Ever After" (Season 6 Episode 11)

Since it seems to help the synoptically disadvantaged, tonight's logline reads: Desmond awakens and discovers that he's on the island.

Oh that is Sooo descriptive. It's like "Charlie wakes up to discover he's dead".

Well, what does Desmond discover after his cup o' joe?
Jump to find out. Do I need to say that our recaps contain spoilers? Even after all that time we spent together, watching reruns of the Glen Campbell show, and I told you that he was going to sing "Wichita Lineman"?

I promise. No more Glen Campbell spoilers.

Now Jump!

EPISODE REVIEW: Lost: “The Package” (Season 6, Episode 10)

Republibot 3.0's picture

You know, I’m sitting here trying to think of something meaningful to say, and nothing is coming to me. Maybe I’m a bit burned out, but even though this episode moved the narrative along much more than the last couple, I don’t feel like it had too much to say, too much to tell us about our characters or the larger conflict going on here.
