FAN FILM FRIDAY: More news on "Iron Sky"

Republibot 3.0's picture

Ok, I know, I know, I know, "Iron Sky" isn't technically a fan film because it's got like a zillion Euro budget and professional actors and stuff, but it *IS* being made by the Star Wrek crew, who made "Star Wreck: In The Pirkenning" which is noteable for two reasons: a) It's the most popular and successful fan film of all time and b) It's the only Babylon 5 Fan Film ever made. Of all the people who've ever made fan films, they're the only ones who've actually managed to live the dream and find actual studio support for a professional project.

Seriously: check this shiznat out! (Vernacular chosen specifically because the bass in the clip below the jump is fairly thumpin')

So here's an interesting press release from our friends over at the Iron Sky production:

Do you want to take part in a new way to make movies, something the large studios are only now starting to notice and react to after such hits as Paranormal Activity?

So you say you like Fan Films, and want to make your own, but can't get started. So you say you don't really like fan films, but you want to make your own very independent no-budget feature. You know what, my hypothetical friends, your lucky day (Friday) is here! (Today!)

"Wreckamovie" is a website started by Peter Vesterbacka (of "Star Wreck" fame) and others specificaly to get these kinds of below-the-radar and questionably-legal projects rolling.

Iron Sky is back on/in the air...

Republibot 3.0's picture

Hey, whady'a know? I've just been informed by Jarmo Puskala that the Iron Sky fan page is back up on facebook. The ironically faceless corporation backed down  due to all the negative press they'd received over the measure, and I'm pleased as punch to announce that our own caterwauling here on The 'Bot was part of that.
