Wow what a familiar but, satisfying episode. Since I’ll be reviewing Transformer: Prime more than likely I compare it to Beast Wars( best transformers incarnation) and Michael Bays Transformers(worst transformers incarnation). So lets hop to it shall we!!!!!!

EPISODE REVIEW: Transformers Prime: “Masters and Students” (Episode 6)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Megatron is dead, Starscream attempts to consolidate his control over the Decepticon forces on earth. No one has a great deal of faith in him, so he decides to revive one of the guardians Megatron squirreled away on earth in stasis millennia ago. He thaws out “Skyquake,” which isn’t a song by Dead or Alive, but it really sounds like it should be. Skyquake immediately beats up Starscream and gets in a fight with Optimus and Bumblebee, gets killed, dies, and is given a cheap funeral.

EPISODE REVIEW: GI Joe Renegades: “Fire Fight” (Episode 10)

Republibot 3.0's picture

The Joes come to the town of Green Ridge, which was a nice riverfront town before Cobra came in and built a dam. They claimed they’d provide water and electricity to the townsfolk free of charge, and after the initial construction, the river would start flowing again. When the Joes get there, the townsfolk have decided Cobra’s no good. The mayor (Fred Willard) tells the Baroness that the courts have ordered the construction halted, and that the floodgates must be opened.

EPISODE REVIEW: GI Joe Renegades: “The Enemy of my Enemy” (Episode 9)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Before we begin tonight, I want to mention the passing of Clement Suave a week and a half ago. Mister Suave was a comic book artist, and he also did the character redesigns for GI Joe: Renegades. He died of cancer at age thirty three. Far too awful a fate at far too young an age for anyone, but doubly so in the case of someone so talented. Our prayers go out for his soul, and for his family.

EPISODE REVIEW: GI Joe Renegades: “Dreadnoks Rising” (Episode 9)

Republibot 3.0's picture

A few people have accused this show - not without some significant justification - of being effectively The A-Team. I don’t have a huge problem with that. The wandering outcast helping people while trying to clear his name is a longstanding American tradition, both in books, movies, and TV (The Incredible Hulk, The Fugitive, and any number of cop-on-the-run shows and westerns). I don’t have a huge problem with a format that works, provided it doesn’t become a straight jacket.

EPISODE REVIEW: GI Joe Renegades: “Rage” (Season 1, episode 8)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Short review tonight because I’ve got the flue or pleurisy or demonic possession or something awful going on and every part of my body aches. Also: I shiver. A lot.

After yet another narrow get away, the Joes decide to hit a thrift shop and buy some duds to be a bit less conspicuous. While there, a guy named Steeler flies into a rage and tries to kill a local priest. It’s a Chicago thing, I guess. Duke contains the situation, and they take Steeler to a doctor, who reveals there have been a number of similarly-afflicted vets: Rage, followed by coma.

EPISODE REVIEW: GI Joe Renegades: “Homecoming, Parts 1 and 2” (Episodes 6 and 7)

There’s an old saw about science fiction on TV: If you haven’t got enough money to do everything you want, put the money you *do* have on the writers. The theory is that people will overlook plywood sets and even more wooden acting and lame special effects and whatnot if you give them a good story. And of course it’s true: The original Twilight Zone is the best example, but there are scads of others.

EPISODE REVIEW: GI Joe Renegades: “Return of the Arashikage, Part 2” (Episode 5)

Ever notice how the second part of a two-parter is never as good as the first?

We pick up exactly where we left off, with the Joes in a burning log cabin, and Stormshadow hauling Jinx off.

EPISODE REVIEW: GI Joe Renegades: “Return of the Arashikage, Part 1” (Episode 4)

Republibot 3.0's picture

I can’t help but think it’s a bit early to be revealing all the mysteries surrounding Snake Eyes. The show hasn’t quite earned my faith that they’re rushing to establish all this for some larger arc-driven purpose down the road. Just the same, this was a really good episode. I really enjoyed watching it, even if it didn’t quite allay my fears.
