GLOBAL WARMING: What if the purpose of life is to end life?

Neorandomizer recently brought a fascinating article to my attention. The gist of it is that Peter Ward thinks it is the nature of life to destroy itself, and not to exist forever in blissful elysian happiness, voting straight-ticked Democrat and listening to Grateful Dead bootlegs, as was previously hypothesized. Hyperbole aside, James Lovelock’s “Gaia” hypothesis - that the world is basically benevolent, and biological systems will eventually reach some level of equilibrium if you don’t monkey with it - has been the driving force behind modern environmentalism.

RETROSPECULATIVE TV: Man From Atlantis: “Melt Down” (Season 2, Episode 1)

Now that the preliminaries are out of the way, and the ‘real’ main sequence of the show has begun, there’s a whole lot of changes in Man From Atlantis, some for the better and some for the worse. Well, really, no, I can’t think of anything that isn’t better, actually. Maybe some of the set redesign, but generally everything is way better than it was before. In many ways, this is a rebirth of the series, so let’s just jump right to it, shall we?

Christmas Eve Links

Ok, we haven’t done any links in a while, and as it’s Christmas Eve, this seems a fine place to use them to kill time until the Turkey’s done. We start out with Season’s Greetings from the Once And Former Dr. Who, who seems to have a weird obsession with spending his yuletide in the UK:

And after the jump, more stuff and things

GLOBAL WARMING: It turns out it's actually *good* for the planet!

Republibot 3.0's picture

If you look here http://www.worlddreambank.org/D/DUBIA.JPG you'll find an image that haunts the nightmares of environmental evangelists: A drowned world, flooded cities, sunken islands, higher temperatures and less ice. Setting aside the fact that all that stuff seems fairly neeto to me, let's take a look at what a warmer, wetter world could mean to us, shall we? The results might surprise you.

BREAKING NEWS: NASA admits Global Warming probably has nothing to do with air pollution, or humans at all

Republibot 3.0's picture

We here at Republibot have long gone on record as being dubious about this whole "Global Warming" thing. Our individual opinions vary from outright disbelief that the phenomenon is actually happening to a grudging admission that something is going on, but we're unsure whether or not it has anything to do with us stupid humans. All three of us agree, however, that fear of Global Warming has been shamefully used to scare people out of their money and their votes. And it's been highly effective at that.

GLOBAL WARMING: The news of our sea level rise has been greatly exagerated

Remember back when George The Second was in office, and Evangelical Environmentalists and Leftists and Bono wouldn't shut up about Global Warming? And now, just a half-year in to the new Democratic Regime everyone is strangely silent about it?
