EPISODE CROSSOVER DEALIE REVIEW THING: Generator Rex: “Heroes United” (Season 3, Episodes 3 and 4)

Our Friday Night animation coverage has been a bit spotty for a few months now. I’m not entirely sure if we even cover either of these shows anymore. I know *I* don’t cover ‘em, but I can’t remember if somebody picked up Ben 10 or not. Certainly I’m not picking either of these shows back up, I’m well and truly, great and mightily burned out from the nights where I had to review four or five back-to-back-to-back shows. Just the same, it’s a crossover, so I thought I should at least note it.

EPISODE REVIEW: Generator Rex: “Outpost” (Season 2, Episode 9)

Republibot 3.0's picture

I dunno, man, I’m just not feeling it. This episode had a couple interesting hooks and one interesting twist, and yet it just does nothing for me. Maybe it’s just that I’m all excited Nick S. wrangled us a really cool interview, maybe it’s just that I’m over-stuffed with Crab Rangoon (“The absolute best animal for Rangooning!”), or maybe it’s just that it’s a poorly plotted, anemic, badly directed episode with the worst fake Hispanic accent ever. You decide.

EPISODE REVIEW: Generator Rex: “Mixed Signals” (Season 2, Episode 7)

UPDATED TO ACTUALLY REALLY REVIEW THE ENTIRE EPISODE!

Rex is having siezures/visions during which he paralyzes a new bits of machinery build out of him. After several instances, he decides his nanites might be trying to tell him something so he just rolls with it and builds whatever the seizures tell him to. This results in a big goofy-looking machine which, when activates, incapacitates Rex and everyone else around, and brings an attack by a guy in a space suit.

EPISODE REVIEW: Generator Rex: “Divide by Six” (Season 2, Episode 6)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Rex sneaks out to play video games and eat burgers…illegally. He ends up running afoul of four freaky people in town: A fat mountain of a Cajun, a punk rock chick with a guitar (That she never plays or hits people with), a severely injured one-eyed man wrapped up like a mummy, and Ricardo Montalban. They beat up Rex and incapacitate him. Then Six appears, but it turns out he’s with the freakshow this time out.

EPISODE REVIEW: Generator Rex: “Robobobo” (Season 2, Episode 5)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Sorry to be so terse, but my hands are killing me here: Bobo is acting nice, which is weird. Rex pries into it, and concludes that Bobo must be an imposter. They get into a fight and Rex knocks off Bobo’s head. Fortunately, he was right about that whole “Imposter” thing. Turns out Bobo sneaks away every now and again to visit sick kids in a hospital (Really) and leaves a robot in his place.

EPISODE REVIEW: Generator Rex: “Alliance” (Season 2, Episode 4)

Actually the best episode in quite a while

Rex is fixing the force field that keeps “The Bug Jar” (Kiev) bottled up. Longtime viewers will recall that Kiev is full of the worst of all possible EVOs, and ruled by a Gollum-wannabe called “Noface.” While working of the field, Rex discovers…sigh…Van Kleis.

EPISODE REVIEW: Generator Rex: “Lost Weekend” (Season 2, Episode 3)

Republibot 3.0's picture

….and the creepy is back, baby! Yeah! Or, you know, ‘no,’ depending on how you feel about that sort of thing, as the case may be, I guess. Anyway: after like half a season of non-disturbing looking monsters, the deformed disturbing ones are back in droves. Not an episode for the younger kiddies. If they’re impressionable, they’ll have nightmares.

EPISODE REVIEW: Generator Rex: “Waste Land” (Season 2, Episode 2)

This is my fourth review tonight. My hands are killing me. Let’s keep this short:

An evo sinks a nuclear powered ship. Six and Rex are sent in to recover the fuel rods so they don’t do any damage. They end up going to “Trash Island,” which, we’re told, is about 537,162 square miles, and was created when nanites were swept together by ocean currents, or perhaps nanites caused ocean currents to sweep garbage together. It doesn’t make much sense.
