It's Batman and Black Canary taking on Dr. Horrible... I mean, Freakazoid... in this latest episode of The Animaniacs!

No spoilers this time, kids. Nothing to spoil.

EPISODE REVIEW: Ben 10:Alien Force : “Single Handed” (Season 3, Episode 7)

Republibot 3.0's picture

We’ve got a number of shows that are leaving us for a bit. First Dollhouse, and now word on the street is that this is the last new Ben 10 AF ep for a bit, this production cycle has burned off all it’s current episodes, and it’ll be a few months before the second half of this season airs. It always happens, doesn’t it? These WB shows just about start to hit their stride when - bang - back on the shelf they go. Irritating.

EPISODE REVIEW: Dollhouse: “Belonging” (Season 2, Episode 4)

Republibot 3.0's picture

This may just be the sort of thing you hear on the playground, with no truth to it, but just so you’ll know, word is that this is our last episode of Dollhouse for a while. While Fox has committed to running all 13 episodes they ordered for Season 2, the ratings are so damn bad that they’re pulling the show entirely during the November sweeps period, in order to bump up/rehabilitate their Friday night ratings a bit. So enjoy it, it’s your last taste for a while.

On the bright side, it was a damn good episode.

ABBREVIATED EPISODE REVIEW: SMALLVILLE: Roulette (Season 9 Episode 5)

sysadmin 2.0's picture

Because I have a life, I missed the first half of Smallville tonight… and my primitive time shifting equipment malfunctioned badly. Soo, we're going to see how much I can figure out from just watching the last half of the episode. Don't worry folks (and those of you who use my reviews for the recaps…. welcome!) I'll watch the whole episode online when it's posted and update this… We'll see how close I get!

EPISODE REVIEW: Iron Man:Armored Adventures : “Designed Only For Chaos” (Episode 21)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Once again, we have an above-average episode that hits on some moral and character development in the show that, somehow, manages to fall a bit short of its potential. But as they’re consistently beating their own average, I have little to complain about.

EPISODE REVIEW: The Venture Brothers: “Blood of the Father, Heart of Steel” (Season 4, Episode 1)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Before we begin, I want to point out that I love The Venture Brothers, and have from the first moment I saw it, three seasons and something like sixteen years ago. Despite their very slow production time, the show is one of those rare programs that appears to be telling jokes only *I* get, only aimed at *Me*, me, glorious me. Sure, some of the gags don’t work; sure sometimes it grosses me the hell out, but it’s a small price to pay for inflaming my solipsistic leanings.

That said, you know, I really didn’t *get* this episode.

In 2047:

The Ascans are facing the first cut - of the 30 of them in the program, ten will not survive to the next round. We’re told that Zoe and a couple others are on the cusp, but Eve wants Wassenfelder on the mission for some undisclosed reason, which means someone else has to get bumped.

A couple space hillbilly repo-men come to earth to reclaim “Ship” for his parent. They attempt to take him from Julie, Ben’s girlfriend, but she calls Ben and he shows up in time to save the day and chase the aliens off. Kevin confirms that the repo order is legit, and so Ben wants to take Ship to the local alien district court to explain the situation, but Julie refuses, saying that’s just playing in to their hands. Not having “Ship” to use for a ship, they need another ship, which, fortunately, Kevin scored a few episodes back, and has yet to return to its rightful owner.

EPISODE REVIEW: Stargate Universe: “Darkness (Part 1)”

Republibot 3.0's picture

And suddenly - bang - just like that, I’m totally in love with this show, and I totally get what they’re doing. Granted, just like the rest of you, I was underwhelmed with the premier, but now that I see the direction they’re taking, it all begins to make sense! All those people - folks obsessed with SGA mostly - who damned this show before it entered production, swearing they'd never watch it, and claiming it was gonna' be Stargate: One Tree Hill can kiss my surprisingly hairless ass - the show is good!
