EPISODE REVIEW: The Prisoner (Remake): “Darling” (Episode 4)

Widely regarded as the worst episode of the original series, “Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling” tells the tale of Six being used by the village out in to the world to solve a problem for them. How do they know he’ll come back? Because they’ve done the old brain-switch-a-roo on him: His body is held hostage back in the Village while he’s running around in someone else’s skin. (Don’t ask.) In the process he meets up with his fiance, and we find out a few things about the spy’s heart.

EPISODE REVIEW: The Prisoner (Remake): “Anvil” (Episode 3)

This episode started out much, much better than the previous two, with a tone that could almost - but not quite - be called ‘jaunty’, and for a while there, maybe twenty minutes, I thought “Say, this has some promise!” but then it all fell apart into a ponderous and portentous muddle, and kind of a disturbing one at that.

EPISODE REVIEW: The Prisoner (Remake): “Living In Harmony” (Episode 2)

One of the intriguing things about the new Prisoner series is that, judging by the titles, they seem to actually be remaking specific episodes of the original series. “Arrival” was obviously the pilot or first episode, this one, named “Living In Harmony” is named after the Virtual Reality Western episode, then we’ve got “Hammer in to Anvil”, “Do Not Forsake Me oh My Darling,” “The Schizoid Man,” and “Checkmate.” It’ll be curious to know if these really *are* remakes, or just homage to similar concepts, using the same titles.

EPISODE REVIEW: Smallville: "Idol" (Season 9, episode 8)

Sam White's picture

This episode started with a guiding light falling on Clark and Lois in bed, apparently enjoying the days of their lives together. It was soon noticed, though, that Clark was in need of the services of a general hospital as there was a scar on his cheek. It was then that we--the audience--began to suspect something was amiss and we were soon proven right as this proved to be a dream Lois was relating to her therapist (a woman of the Bob “How does that make you feel?” Newhart variety of counselors).

EPISODE REVIEW: Stargate Universe: “Time” (Season 1, Episode 8)

Man oh man oh man, did they knock it out of the park tonight, or what? This is the first unquestionably great episode of the series, and obviously if they submit one for awards this year, this’ll be the one they choose. We’ve all had our misgivings with the show. Even I - and I really do like the show - have had some misgivings here and there, not so much with the premise or the cast or whatever, but just that it seemed to be taking so long to get going in the first few episodes.

Man, I’m sick as a dog tonight, but I’m still gonna’ try my normal Friday night triple-play of reviews. We’ll see if I make it through, or even survive.

EPISODE REVIEW: The Venture Bros.: “Return To Malice” (Season 4, Episode 4)

Republibot 3.0's picture

Sorry for the delay in the review, but for some reason my DVR will *NOT* record this damn show. It’s recorded the season premier twice now, the second episode not at all, the third episode, and not this one. I don’t know what the hell is wrong with it, but of course this results in me shooting my blood pressure through the roof, and having to find some other source for the episodes, which is surprisingly time-consuming, because Adult Swim doesn’t post ‘em online immediately after they air anymore, for some dam fool reason. Also, irritatingly, the site is running all wonky today.
