CATCHING UP WITH V: "Concordia," "Siege," and "Birth Pangs" (Episodes 5-7)

Hey, everyone!

We've obviously had a rocky road covering "V" thus far this year, for which I profusely apologize. Fortunately, Kristine N. has graciously stepped forward to review the series from here on out.

Coverage starts today with a recap of the three episodes we missed here on the site.

I hope everyone will join me in thanking Kristine for all her work in doing this!

Sincerely,
Republibot 3.0

RETROSPECULATIVE TV: Battlestar Galactica: “Baltar’s Escape” (Story 14)

Republibot 3.0's picture

The Terra arc continues: We pick up with Adama dictating his journal, talking about how the council wants to release the Alliance prisoners they captured in “Greetings from Earth,” treat them as diplomats, and send ‘em home. Adama, of course, opposes this, but the council has never been presented as anything other than a buncha’ self-destructive goons, and now is no different.

EPISODE REVIEW: TRANSFORMERS PRIME: Scrapheap

Wow what a familiar but, satisfying episode. Since I’ll be reviewing Transformer: Prime more than likely I compare it to Beast Wars( best transformers incarnation) and Michael Bays Transformers(worst transformers incarnation). So lets hop to it shall we!!!!!!

EPISODE REVIEW: Generator Rex: “Lost Weekend” (Season 2, Episode 3)

Republibot 3.0's picture

….and the creepy is back, baby! Yeah! Or, you know, ‘no,’ depending on how you feel about that sort of thing, as the case may be, I guess. Anyway: after like half a season of non-disturbing looking monsters, the deformed disturbing ones are back in droves. Not an episode for the younger kiddies. If they’re impressionable, they’ll have nightmares.

EPISODE REVIEW: Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: “Vicktor: The Spoils” (Season 2, Episode 3)

It’s always nice when episodes have a moral, and what I really took from tonight’s episode was that if Imperial Russia had used Frankenstein’s Monster, and possibly zombies, there’d still be a Czar on the throne today. Also: there really aren’t enough Ruritanian romances anymore. And when was the last time someone worked the Duchy of Strackenz into a story?

EPISODE REVIEW: Sym-Bionic Titan: “I Am Octus” (Episode 14)

Republibot 3.0's picture

The team is looking at a Jackson Pollack painting, which Illana sees as a warm happy sunrise, and which Lance sees as battle-related carnage. Octus sees it as a painting. When they press him on symbolism, he asks why the red can’t just represent red. They tell him to look deeper, and he discovers that there was an earlier painting the artist covered over. Annoyed, they conclude that he can’t see the emotion in the piece because he’s a robot. This annoys Octus.

RETROSPECULATIVE TV: Max Headroom: "Rakers" (Episode 2)

BleedingheartBot's picture

Successful pop acts often suffer from what critics call "difficult second album syndrome". An artist pours everything he has into one perfect record, everybody loves it and a two weeks later, the record company insists on a quick follow-up to keep the fires burning. And it'd better be as good as the debut, or better. Max Headroom suffers from a similar problem, only slightly worse.

EPISODE REVIEW: Generator Rex: “Waste Land” (Season 2, Episode 2)

This is my fourth review tonight. My hands are killing me. Let’s keep this short:

An evo sinks a nuclear powered ship. Six and Rex are sent in to recover the fuel rods so they don’t do any damage. They end up going to “Trash Island,” which, we’re told, is about 537,162 square miles, and was created when nanites were swept together by ocean currents, or perhaps nanites caused ocean currents to sweep garbage together. It doesn’t make much sense.

EPISODE REVIEW: Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: “Eye of the Beholder” (Season 2, Episode 2)

Gah. Remember when I used to have live action shows like Terminator 2.5 and Stargate: Universe and Caprica and Dollhouse and Galactica to review on Firday nights? I really miss that. Friday night has become my Saturday Morning, and even though most of these shows are pretty good, I still miss my Friday night.
