RETROSPECULATIVE TV: Space Academy: “The Survivors of Zalon.” (Episode 1) 1977

Republibot 3.0's picture

In the summer of 1977 I was ten years old, and already a fledgling geek, well conversant in the ways of TOS and Space: 1999 and Lost in Space, and Mantango: Fungus of Terror, and all manner of equally useless things. I hadn’t seen Star Wars yet, though, since I went to a Baptist school at the time, and they frowned on that kind of thing. (Both movies in general, and Star Wars in specific. They also had bad things to say about Fonzie.) I’d just discovered Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, as well. I’d even watched

EPISODE REVIEW: Eureka: "One Small Step" (Season 4, Episode 19)

Anna's picture

A freak accident with the FTL drive causes Deputy Andy to be stranded on Titan, and the Eureka folks race to get him back before the extreme environmental conditions do permanent damage on him. Meanwhile, Taggart is back, and when Taggart is around, some crazy scheme that may involve pretty much anything is bound to go out of control. In this case, it’s genetically-manipulated bats that literally crap acid. Of course, the bats cause this week’s mayhem in GD.

EPISODE REVIEW: Batman The Brave And The Bold: "Scorn of the Star Sapphire!" (Season 3, Episode 4)

Man, it’s been awhile, hasn’t it? Five months, by my count. You can sorta blame that on Cartoon Network’s dry spell on Fridays (can’t review if there’s nothing to review). So with the return of new episodes of Generator Rex and Batman, I guess I’m back on the job.

The Rundown:

Opener: Batman and Wonder Woman face off against Baroness Gunther for the life of Col. Steve Trevor.

EPISODE REVIEW: Alphas: "Blind Spot" (Episode 9)

Jim Stiles's picture

Before I start the actual review of this episode, I would like to note that this episode featured Brent Spiner as a guest star. Brent Spiner (Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation) was, by far, the best actor on TNG, and I would like to see him more often in movies and television.

EPISODE REVIEW: Torchwood Miracle Day “The Blood Line” (Season 4, Episode 10)

Charles H's picture

The final episode of Miracle day finds our team on opposite ends of the earth and a sacrifice is made.

The focus starts on Gwen. She tells a nice story of how good her father is and that today will be the day she kills him.

In Buenos Aries, Rex and Esther spill a drop of Jack’s blood. It begins to move – towards the blessing. They confirm the movement over the phone with Gwen. She tells them to keep Jack’s blood safe.

EPISODE REVIEW: Torchwood Miracle Day: “The Gathering” (Season 4, Episode 9)

Charles H's picture

The penultimate episode of Miracle day and the team deals with the devil and travels to the ends of the earth.

It has been two months since the last episode. The world is in a depression. A car smashes into a pharmacy. It is Gwen Cooper. She gets out and robs the store of a lot of drugs. She returns home and is being watched. She goes into the house with pizza boxes. They assume she is just out for pizza. Gwen has the drugs in the pizza boxes and evidently she and Rhys are the neighborhood drug dealers. They take medicine down in the basement to her father, who they are hiding.

My one word review? Maudlin. My longer review? Read on:

PLAY BY PLAY

President Santiago (Re-elected in “Midnight on the Firing Line”) is en rout to B5 aboard “Earth Force 1.” (Oooh! Nice!) Meanwhile, there’s an explosion in the Cobra Bays (From whence the fighters are launched). The Presidential Security Team that arrived on the station about the same time investigates and finds evidence of sabotage. Further investigation implicates Garibaldi. Garibaldi runs to try and clear his name, and eventually he does. The president arrives at the station without incident.

EPISODE REVIEW: Thundercats: "Legacy" (Episode 7)

shhhimbatman's picture

This week picks up shortly after the last episode. The group is hanging around the Tower pretty much just chilling. Lion-o is trying to open the book and comes to the conclusion that instead of being magic in nature, The Book of Omens is instead technology. Suddenly the Book blast Lion-o knocking him unconscious. His spirit (?) is lifted into the book where his essence encounters Jaga who explains that the book is neither magic nor tech, and yet is both at the same time.

EPISODE REVIEW: Alphas: "A Short Time In Paradise" (Episode 8)

Jim Stiles's picture

Before I start in the actual review of this episode, I would like to state the following facts about myself. I believe in one triune God. I trust Jesus Christ as my personal lord and savior. I believe in the inerrancy and infallibility of the Biblical monographs. I believe that the Westminster Standards are the best available summary of the Christian faith.

EPISODE REVIEW: Eureka: "This One Time In Space Camp" (Season 4, Episode 18)

Anna's picture

It is six weeks before Astraeus takes off for Titan and the trip’s aspiring crew members need to pass one more hurdle before the final list is done. Senator Wen heads a panel that interviews each aspirant separately, asking a variation of the question “What makes you want to go to Titan so bad that you are willing to let us use a brain interface that lets us watch your deepest memories?”
