EPISODE REVIEW: Dollhouse: "Epitaph One" (Season 1, Episode 13) [Season Finale]

Since most of us haven't seen "Epitaph One," the season 1 finale of Dollhouse, and effectively part 1 of the two part series finale, Vacantlook of B5.com has graciously allowed us to reprint his synopsis of "The Lost Episode."  This explains a lot about what was going on in Friday night's finale, explaining some of the more confusing points about how, exactly, the world got that bad, and who some of these new characters were

EPISODE REVIEW: Dollhouse: “Epitaph Two: Return” (Season 2, Episode 13) SERIES FINALE

And so it end, not quite in glory, and not quite with a whimper, but definitely quieter and a bit more touchingly than I’d anticipated, based on the last several weeks of breakneck storytelling. For those who haven’t been keeping score, the series had a two-part finale. Part one, “Epitaph One,” never aired, and was produced back in May of 2009. Part two - which I’m reviewing here - aired a season later.

JUST A LITTLE HEADS UP FOR OUR REGULAR READERS: I Screwed Up, Bigtime

The big "Dollhouse" finale aired an hour earlier than it normally does, and really with no advance word. Owing to my own incredible stupidity, I ended up missing it as I was watching Ben 10 at the time.

I'm watching Caprica right now, which I'll have up tonight, and I'll do Dollhouse when it comes up on Hulu tomorrow. I'm really sorry for this. It's just sloppy.

JUST A LITTLE HEADS UP FOR OUR REGULAR READERS: Caprica vs. Dollhouse

Owing to deliberate (And stupid) counterprogramming by Syfy, the series finale of "Dollhouse" and the first real episode of "Caprica" are running at the same time on different networks. This isn't even remotely a tough call: I'm watching Dollhouse. It's a better show, and its grand farewell is big news. I'll have the review up here tonight, no problem.

EPISODE REVIEW: Dollhouse: “The Hollow Men” (Season 2, Episode 12)

Last week we learned that Boyd was the founder of Rawson, the corporation that runs the dollhouse. What could follow on the heels of a revelation like that? Let’s find out, shall we?

EPISODE REVIEW: Dollhouse: “Getting Closer” (Season 2, Episode 11)

You know what? This was such a barn-burner that I’m not even gonna’ bore you with my normal preamble, let’s just get right to it. In my massively spoiler-heavy synopsis to come, I’m going to list things in chronological order, rather than the order they were revealed in the show.

EPISODE REVIEW: Dollhouse: “The Attic” (Season 2, Episode 10)

Last time - like an hour ago - as you’ll recall, Dollhouse more-or-less concluded that true love has a kind of eternal heft, regardless of the memories or circumstances surrounding it, it is a direct connection between souls (Even though Topher doesn’t believe in the soul). The show also concluded that the sum of what we are is greater than the total of the part, though in Echo’s case, you know, she’s got a lot of extra parts in her head, so she’s kind of greater still, way greater than average, kinda’ blowing the bell curve for the rest of us.

EPISODE REVIEW: Dollhouse: “Stop Loss” (Season 2, Episode 9)

Man oh man oh man oh man oh man! Remember back when we were in our early twenties, and we all watched Star Trek: The Next Generation, and we liked it even though we were all aware that it was kind of a disappointing show that really wasn’t all that good? Remember how we’d schlog through five or six boring or openly lame episodes in a row to get to a good one? Remember how excited we’d get at watching an episode that we would rave about simply because it was better than mediocre?
