Along with the Flash Gordon serial I reported on previously, I also have obtained the Buck Rogers serial starring Buster Crabbe--again--as the eponymous heroic Earth pilot from the 20th century who helps save the world--again--in the 25th century.
This project has been brewing for some time- and since we like to keep tabs on what James Cawley is up to, we thought you would too.
Somehow, it looks like Cawley might make the leap from fan film auteur to actual producer of a licensed property. He has made a deal with the Dille Family Trust, owners of the Buck Rogers character, to produce a webseries based on the original version of the character as he appeared in the short story "Armageddon 2419 A.D." by Philip Nowlan.
We've talked a bit about it before, now it seems one (slight) step closer to reality- the Buck Rogers Web series from noted Star Trek Fan Auteur (oh, that felt weird to type) James Cawley.
According to a story on TrekMovie.com (beware, minor Phase II spoilers...), James Cawley of Star Trek: New Voyages/Phase II and his production company has acquired the rights to do a web series based on "Buck Rogers". This iteration of the venerable hero is to be set in it's original mileu and concept: Buck Rogers is (again!) a WWI pilot who awakes from suspended animation in the 25th Century.
