Dark Horizons is reporting that Tony Scott has confirmed that he and his brother, Ridley, are producing a prequel to the Alien franchise through their production company, Scott-Free productions. Director Carl Rinsch is attached and they intend to be shooting by year's end.
There have been rumors for the last week or so that Joss Whedon was pitching story ideas to the suits at FOX for a second season of his perpetually ratings-challenged "Dollhouse" Series. This was a surprise, since it's FOX after all, and it was just assumed the show was dead as a doornail. It had the lowest ratings of any hight-budget scripted series on TV - a 1.0 share in the male 18-49 demographic, but it consistently went up to a 1.4 if DVR ratings were factored in.
Geez, what a week I'm having. First JG Ballard dies, and now NBC has pulled Kings from their schedule. They plan on burning off the remaining episodes during the summer doldrums - June and July - probably with the typical lack of fanfare and respect that NBC has treated the show with thus far.
Honestly, I don't know how or why they do this - the show costs $4 an EPISODE! They've blown $44 million on the episodes they've already produced, plus another ten million on the pilot. You'd think they'd want a shot at earning some of that money back.
The Superhero deconstruction epic "Watchmen" will be released on time after all.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox and Warner Brothers have reached a settlement for... guess what?... A large hunk o' cash and a piece of the box office.
We'll talk a bit more about Watchmen later, and we'll report more when there's more to report.
The new Actor to play the next incarnation of the Doctor has been named- it's British actor Matt Smith, the youngest actor to ever play the role. As soon as I can filter through all the noise, I'll find a picture and post it.
(Matt Smith? What, they couldn't find a John Smith?)
