MOVIE REVIEW: "LaMB" (2009)

Review LaMB

It being summer and all the teachers being out of the high school I work at I’ve had the opportunity catch up on my movies and find new things while I’m working.  LaMB is one of the new things I’ve discovered (Hulu seems to be a veritable treasure trove for interesting independent scifi offerings), and it has an interesting premise.  Apparently humanity has trashed the Earth and has had to head out into space to find a new place to live, rather like Firefly and several other scifi movies, shows, stories.

MOVIE REVIEW: “The Man from Earth”

“The Man from Earth” is something strange among modern science fiction movies in that it has almost no action and all drama and tension derive themselves from the characters and their dialog.  The script was crafted by Jerome Bixby (the movie is also known as “Jerome Bixby’s The Man from Earth”), who was most famous for writing the original mirror universe episode of Star Trek and the original story that the “It’s a Good Life” episode of the Twilight Zone was based on.

I have to wonder how Comcast purchased a controlling stake in NBC at the beginning of the year and I not notice it until now.  I was looking for ways to view this episode of Eureka in case I missed it when I discovered that July will only be airing all SyFy shows after they've finished their season runs.  Enough complaining though, we should get on to the review.

EPISODE REVIEW: Eureka: "Liftoff" (Season 4, Episode 11)

This week saw the return of Eureka from the seemingly eons long departure that was their mid-season break.  I'm beginning to have trouble understanding the logic to these breaks.  It almost seems that it would make more sense to start the season in July and end it in November if you're going to have a seven month break between episodes in a single season.  Maybe someone else can explain it to me.

EPISODE REVIEW: Eureka: “What Goes Around, Comes Around” (Season 3, Episode 18)

So we’ve come to the end of this long and strange season of Eureka and I must say that this episode felt much more like a series finale. It tied so much of the hanging plot strings up in the last two or three episodes (including this one) that you find yourself wondering where they’re going to go when the fourth season starts. So let’s just dive right into it shall we.
