What the hell is Blade Runner all about?

Randall Anthony Schanze's picture

Blade Runner (1982) is unquestionably the seminal SF film of its generation. From the stunning visuals to the bang-on performances, to the casual effects, to the enigmatic symbolism, it is basically the magical heaven of all Noir. It was like every broody existental detective film based on a book by Hammett, Chandler, and the rest had been a mere precursor, and Blade Runner was the culmination of the entire genre. It is rightfully an unquestioned classic.

The Walking Dead: "Thank You" (Season Six, Episode 3)

Well that was one weird episode. It strongly indicates the death of a major character in an uninspired fit of nihilism, while also hedging its bets so they could still chicken out. It also continues this season's trend of simple through line action, but tonight weighs the action down with some tired rehash material. Overall, it's still a thumbs up. Just not as enthusiastically as the last two weeks.
