Well that looked fake...

My goodness, "Avatar" didn't age well, did it?

I remember seeing it in the theater and being blown away by how awesome and realistic it looked. Watched it last night on a really good, big TV screen, and it was just a really lavish cartoon.

It's amazing how quickly our eyes adapt to this stuff. One years jaw-droppingly realistic is next year's trip to toontown.

Despite what your Trekie friends say, Deep Space Nine kinda' sucks

Randall Anthony Schanze's picture

Deep Space Nine. Oy Veh. Where to start? Well as is well known by all but the most bleeding-from-the-eardrums Trekerbaiters, the show is a ripoff of Babylon 5. It's also regarded by most objective fans as inferior to Babylon 5. I'm not objective. I'm solidly in the B5 camp, but I've heard many an authority with no dog in this race vote for B5 over DS9, despite B5's vastly lower budget, toon-town special effects, spotty acting, tendency towards solliloques, and a universally hated fifth season. Even with all that, it's just better, you know?

Why Grace Lee Whitney got fired from Star Trek

Randall Anthony Schanze's picture

I'm not sure if I should tell this story or not. On the one hand, it's nobody's business. On the other hand, Grace Lee Whitney was a good person with a hard life, and this is a good illustration.

I never met Grace Lee Whitney, but I was friends with one of her old boyfriends from the '60s, and someone who worked on TOS. I'm not going to name my (living) source because they'd take flack and they're old and don't need this crap, so if you want to say I'm lying, that's cool. Anyway I was told why she got fired midway through the first season. There were basically two reasons.
