In my husband's comic strip, 21st Century Fox, he has a meat product called SPAM--Scientifically Produced Animal Matter, which gets rid of the need for the characters to kill and eat other animals.

Well, our own species is inching closer to developing SPAM. The first lab-created hamburger patty, created from bovine stem cells, was cooked and taste-tested and pronounced, "not unpleasant." "Crunchy, with juiciness and texture somewhere between a Boca Burger and McDonald's" was another comment.

Book Review: Existence, by David Brin

Sometimes a book can be too good, and put too many plots into its story. David Brin's "Existence" feels like he wrote six or seven short stories, then chopped them up and randomly reassembled them into a big, thick book.

This is not a good thing, but I've been told that it's the way he writes his novels.

Why Are We So Fascinated By Robots?

Robot stories (and I'm including the entire gamut of AI machines) are not so much about robots as about using them as stand-ins for humans which we can analyze and study to try to figure out "What makes us human?" Human beings tend to get uneasy when you start trying to analyze them the way scientists analyze animals' behavior because humans like to believe they're part God.
