Gotham: "What the Little Bird Told Him"

This show has always had a structural problem. Now it's officially got a writing problem to go with it. While not as awful as last week's sludge pump of an episode, this one is a whirlpool of anticlimaxes leading absolutely nowhere. It's going to be a long 10-15 years waiting for Bruce to do his Bat thing.

12 Monkeys: "Splinter" (Season 1, Episode 1)

"What do I do that is so monumental that the laws of physics are broken to send you chasing after me?" That's a mouthful, but it's also a good line. It gives one hope for SyFy's attempt to cash in on "12 Monkeys" which manages a decidedly uneven launch tonight. Or as the Guardians of the Galaxy might say, something good, something bad, a bit of both.

Gotham: "Rogue's Gallery" (Season 1, Episode 11)

Quote of the night: "But I like having you here. I can sit at my desk and look at you. It's soothing, like a bonsai tree." Too bad you can't say that about this episode. It's awful dreck from beginning to end, disjointed, dysfunctional and dumb, a serious misfire with which to open the second half of Season One.

The Walking Dead: "Coda" (Season 5, Episode 8

Well that was odd. The half-season finale is entertaining, and in one sense works. But in another, it's hollow and abrupt. I suspect a fair amount of the audience is somewhat disappointed given how good so much of these last eight episodes have been. The chief sinner here is the abruptness of the last five minutes.
