SONG OF THE DAY: "The Mayflower" by Jon and Vangelis (1981)

Jon Anderson of Yes and Vangelis not of Yes (Though he almost got in once) did this song (Click to see it):

I've grown indifferent to Mr. Anderson, but I love Vangelis. I'd listen to audio footage of him scrubbing the grout in his bathroom if he ran it through a synth first, and this is a pretty little song. This song seems like a story about the pilgrims, but really it's a metaphor for the exploration of space. See, check out the lyrics:
The Sea like The Sea
The Wind like The Wind
The Stars in the Sky
The Sea like The Sea
The moon like The Moon

EPISODE REVIEW: Defying Gravity: “Rubicon” (Episode 5)

The show has been steadily getting better. I know some people have criticized the show as it tends towards melodrama more than SF, but the fact of the matter is that they’re living on a space ship, and they’ve got a lot of time to kill. Whether you want it or not, you’re going to get a lot of melodramatic crap, just ask anyone who’s ever lived in a Co-Ed dorm. This week in particular, the scale tilts in favor of the soap opera stuff, rather than the more traditional skiffy stuff, but truth be told, I actually kind of liked it.

EPISODE REVIEW: Eureka: "Shower the People." (Season 3, Episode 15)

Well, another week and another Eureka. This week marks the end of the signal meta-story. And while I’m rather disappointed in it ending, my disappointment stems from the writers ending such a promising meta-story so soon (though there seemed countless directions it could go) rather than the way they ended it. It wasn’t your typical Eureka story and in many ways that is what made it so darn good. In the past Eureka has flirted with the darker, drama oriented side of the dramedy scale only to come running back to the lighter slapstick side like a dog with its tail on fire.
